All Womxn Project: 6 steps to body confidence

Body confidence tips

While the journey towards self acceptance and body positivity can be a long, complex journey, there is an encouraging tide of turn gradually beginning to challenge society’s ingrained ‘norms’ and subsequently paving the way for a brighter, more representative future.

The All Womxn Project is one such campaign, ‘on a mission to make sure all girls and womxn feel represented and powerful.’ Strongly advocating the ‘untouched, true, natural woman’, the All Womxn Project believes it’s never too early or too late to know YOU are enough!’

We caught up with All Womxn Project founder Clementine Desseaux (aka @bonjourclem) and project ambassador Nicola Griffin at The Hoxton in Shoreditch to discuss key steps to body confidence.

  1. Self-acceptance is the first step

We’ve all got bits we don’t like. Focus on the bits you do like. Make them work for you. You are a whole being, not a sum of a part. Be brave and strong, and say ‘I’m fine’. Look in the mirror, embrace yourself as a whole and tell yourself that. Self-acceptance is the first step to self-love.

  1. Acknowledge your inherent value

Throughout life, feelings and other elements will fluctuate and change. Acknowledge these ebbs and flows, but accept your inherent values as constant. Your inherent values are the facts about you, not the labels society puts on you or the mood you’re in on a particular day. In other words, learn who you are, factually.

  1. Stop comparing yourself

Cut it out. Your life is about you, no one else. We’re not all the same, and that would be boring. Embrace your individuality. Don’t waste your energy comparing yourself with people’s filtered, unrealistic lifestyles, you do you.

what is the all womxn project

  1. Surround yourself with positivity

Your environment has a big role to play in how you feel about yourself and others. Surround yourself with friends and family that make your mind and soul feel like sunshine. And have the confidence to walk away from those toxic relationships that don’t.

  1. Curate your social media feed

Filter who you follow. You shouldn’t have to see things that make you feel bad. Unfollow or mute anyone who doesn’t leave you with a smile. Just like the numbers in your phone book, you don’t have to follow everything and everyone.

  1. Embrace the benefits of fitness

Use fitness to strengthen your body and your soul. Exercise is not about changing yourself, but striving to better the current version of yourself. It is an incredible way to build your strength and confidence, both inside and out.
